PROJECT STATEMENT: Play. A Tale Of Three Human | Non-Human Spaces.
“All spaces are not created equally. Each space has the ability to be unique to its specific purpose, facilitating in the telling of the buildings story through the projects form, material and the interaction with our senses and the environment.”
We will begin the semester through the rigorous crafting of three architectural spaces for play through the interaction of spaces for the human, non-human, and the natural environment. Each space should tell a unique story about its purpose while interacting with its inhabitants, tangential spaces, as well as its surrounding environment. These unique spaces/stories will form one cohesive building. Each space must merge with its surrounding spaces in appropriate locations, and at those inflection points, novel programs, forms, and interactions should emerge. Each student will receive a 50’ x 50’ x 50’ volume to work within as a site. This volume may rest on, slightly below or above the ground plane. Create a narrative, with a series of spatial taxonomies and design operations which explain the logic behind your projects program, how the spaces are utilized and how they are assembled. Additionally, develop a stance on the relationship between the human, machines, and the environment which can be utilized as a critical starting point for future projects.
