DESCRIPTION: Littered with suburban communities built on reclaimed land, San Francisco Bay is only one example of a global city to be effected by sea level rise. With these low-lying areas to soon be reclaimed by the waters, residents will be forced to look for alternative ways of living. Rather than viewing the impending deluge as a tragedy, could we not create an opportunity?
Instead of taking drastic steps to mitigate flooding, could we simply let this land return to the water? Rather than creating new sprawling communities, can we find a new alternative that minimizes the impact on the land and water? Submergia, an off-the-grid, low impact community for living and working, which provides a iaac self sufficient city competition new network for sustainable urban growth.
